divining for answers am i
in the stars,
and the deep-violet that is
the january sky at night
pulling on cigarettes for
sanity’s sake.
and i play tarot cards and
read tea leaves and the
thin lines of
chicken bones;
tracing arcs from crystal stars’
spectral light
to the enormous
wooden hearts
of the planets.
my spine curved,
with lost eyes.
traced along the connecting lines
from nothing more than the
points of phantoms
long since passed.
